History of the Moray Arts Club

The Moray Arts Club was founded in 1951 and for over fifty years has continued to provide the best in professional and amateur art, music, and drama. The MAC now has a headquarters located in the Bishopmill Hall.

Art

The MAC sponsors three major annual exhibitions, two for members only, and one open to all artists. The MAC has also offered a weekly art group, an annual art sale, demonstrations, critiques, discussion groups, and other resources for local artists.

Music

Music lovers have enjoyed concerts by The Academy of St Martin's in the Fields with Neville Mariner, The Edinburgh Quartet, BBC Scottish Brass Ensemble, Alexander Zolotarev, The Nielson Wind Consort, Yung-Choon Park, Angela Whelan, and many others.

Drama

In association with North East Arts Touring, the MAC has brought to Moray theatre companies such as 7:84, Borderline, Scottish Dance Theatre, and Communicado. The MAC also actively sponsored the appearance of the Royal Shakespeare Company and sponsors a One Act Play Festival in which local drama clubs, both youth and adult, compete biennially for prestigious trophies. In addition, the MAC organizes Theatre Bus Parties to bring Moray residents to theatre events outside Moray.
